Mr. Allen Wayne Simcox

Allen Wayne Simcox, age 53, of Humboldt, TN passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 after a long extensive battle with diabetes.He was born to the late Allen and Clara Simcox on March 15, 1961 in Williamsburg, KY.  Allen Wayne graduated from Sullivan East High School, Bluff City, TN  in 1980 and immediately entered the United States Navy where he served as a radioman.  After the Navy, Allen lived in Bremerton, WA where he trained and worked as a chef.  Upon returning to Tennessee, Allen continued working as a chef and also in retail management.  He enjoyed growing and sharing many beautiful flowers and spending time with his dog, Teddy.  Allen Wayne was an active member of First United Pentecostal Church in Humboldt, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Helen Simcox, Wes and Bessie Lawson along with a brother, Leslie Simcox.  He is survived by his best friend and longtime caregiver, Timothy Canaday, Humboldt TN,  his brothers: Gregory Simcox (Penny),of Kingsport, TN, Jeffrey Simcox, of Kingsport, TN, Daniel Simcox (Angie) of Charlotte, NC; his sisters:  Reba Luttrell (Mel) of Maryville, TN, Ivy Smith (Howard), of Piney Flats, TN, Tonya Todd (Mark) of Goldsboro, NC; and special aunt, Barbara Ann Simcox, Bristol, VA along with nieces and nephews, Allen-Michael Simcox, Kristyn Simcox, Leighton Simcox, Noel Simcox, Maddie Simcox, Matt Smith (Laura), Wes Smith (Alexis), Alyssa Byington (Logan) and Jessie O’dell as well as  several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Allen Wayne to the “Allen Simcox Memorial Building Fund” at First United Pentecostal Church, 3401 Bledsoe Road, Humboldt, TN 38343.

A memorial and celebration of Allen Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014, 2:00 pm, at First United Pentecostal Church, Humboldt, TN.   An additional  celebration of Allen’s life will be held in East Tennessee in the springtime as his ashes are laid to rest.
