Anita Myers, age 95, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born on June 23, 1929 in Pikeville, Tennessee to Thomas Joe Hutcheson and Katherine Matthews Hutcheson.
In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin (J.C.) Myers Jr.; two brothers, Joe Hutcheson and Clyde Hutcheson; and sister, Virginia Ellington.
She is survived by her son, James Calvin (Jim) Myers III and wife Mary of Jackson; two daughters, Leslie Knipple and husband Brian of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Kendall Allard and husband Jeff of Pikeville, Tennessee; two brothers, Roy Hutcheson and wife Carolyn of Scottsboro, Alabama and Wayne Hutcheson and wife Mary of Springfield, Tennessee; and six grandchildren, Brad Allard, Mike Allard, Matthew Knipple, Devon Peele, Claire Myers and Beth Myers.
Anita graduated from Tennessee Tech with a degree in Home Economics and started her career as a Home Demonstration Agent in McMinnville,Tennessee where she met and married J.C. Myers. After dedicating her early life to house and home, she obtained her Master's Degree in Education. She taught elementary school in several districts in Tennessee over a lengthy career. She was a person of great faith, dedicated to the Church of Christ and later the Philadelphia Church of God. Anita was an avid organic gardener and naturalist before it became cool. She loved collecting interesting rocks, pebbles, and wildflowers.
There will be a private burial service in Pikeville, TN for members of the immediate family.
