Mrs. Floyd passed this life on June 4, 2013 in Jackson, TN. She was born February 9, 1936 in Friendship, TN. At an early age, she moved with her parents, Mack and Era White Perry, to Southern California. She graduated from Palo Verde High School in Blythe, CA where she was selected as a Job's Daughter queen.

Bettie was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, MO with a major in fashion and design. She studied business at the University of Southern California, Imperial Valley College, Palo Verde College and the University of Hawaii. She graduated from the Western CUNA Management School in Pomona, CA.

Bettie was a marketing rep at Lordleigh of California, and a buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills, CA. She also worked at Goldwater's in Phoenix. In Washington, DC, she was special assistant to the Postmaster General. She also served as the assistant manager of Government Agencies Federal Credit Union in El Centro, CA.

In 1960, Bettie was with the advance committee to elect Lyndon B. Johnson for President. In 1966, she again worked with the advance committee to elect Robert F. Kennedy for President, the same year she worked with the committee to re-elect Gov. Brown of CA. In 1970, she served as the campaign Treasurer and Headquarters Manager for the election of Al McCandless for County Supervisor of Riverside County, CA. She served on the advisory commission for the Riverside County CA Parks Department and was recognized for her contribution to the 1984 Olympiad Games in Los Angeles.

Bettie was married to Bill Floyd on January 20, 1968. They have made their home in Madison County, TN since 1996.

A celebration of Bettie's life will be in Friendship, TN and placement of her cremains will be held in Belle Vernon Cemetery in Crockett County, TN and on the west mesa of the Palo Verde Valley in Blythe, CA. Dates and times to be determined.
