Catherine Owen
Jackson, TN
Anna Catherine Graham Owen, 91, danced into heaven Saturday, November 9, 2019. The daughter of William and Louise Graham, Mrs. Owen, known to her friends as Catherine and her family as Gammy, was born in Stark County, Ohio, on May 18, 1928. She married Hugh Owen in 1947 and had three children.
Mrs. Owen was an active resident of Jackson Oaks Retirement Community, participating in resident committees, senior adult Olympics, craft classes, and Wii Bowling tournaments. She was a fierce Wii Bowling competitor and even traveled to other senior adult facilities to compete.
She will be remembered as an avid cruiser, someone who loved to dance, and a proficient people-watcher when she camped with her family and friends. She never had enough pairs of white pants, often to her family’s frustration, and loved to shop. Her favorite port of call was any that had good shopping opportunities.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her only son, Randy Owen.
She leaves two daughters, Cathy Denton (Terry) of Wilsonville, AL, and Cindy Wright (Michael) of Jackson, TN, and a daughter-in-love, Terry Owen, of Millington, TN. She also leaves her grandchildren: Stephanie Wright (Kevin) of Germantown, TN; Anise McCormick (Shane), of Nixa, MO; Heather Keller (Tommy), of Wilsonville, AL; Steven McCulley (Tammy) of Collierville, TN; Rachael Belcher of Munford, TN; Chris Denton of Colorado Springs, CO; Brent Owen (Chasne) of Enterprise, AL; MacKenzie Galloway (Jeremy) of Memphis, TN; Thomas Wright of Jackson, TN; Andrea Davis (Johnny) of Cincinnati, OH; Chris Wright (Charlotte) of Cincinnati, OH; and Ashley Wright of Memphis, TN. Mrs. Owen loved the noise and laughter her grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren brought to her life. In face, her oldest grandchild, Stephanie, gave her the name, Gammy, when Stephanie was a toddler.
Gammy will be missed by her family, her friends, and the community of Jackson Oaks. Her children and grandchildren will miss her unconditional love, but will always remember her every time they chew a piece of gum or hear a Loretta Lynn song.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Owen will be held at a later date.
Medina Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
