Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Granville Millinder, Jr., age 81, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in the chapel of Medina Funeral Home with Bro. Aubrey James and Bro. Mickey Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden, TN.
Mr. Millinder passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born on January 11, 1934 in Darden, TN, son of Ethel and Charlie Millinder, Sr. He was retired from East Union Baptist Church. Mr. Millinder was also a country-gospel songwriter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Wilma Cannon Millinder; parents, Ethel and Charlie Millinder, Sr.; two brothers, Harold Ray Millinder and John Millinder; sister, Ruby Millinder.
He is survived by three daughters, Pamela Shumate (Tommy) of Jackson, Paula Perry (Clyde) of Lawrenceburg, Cindy Millinder of Jackson; son, Charles Ray Millinder (Marci) of Jackson; brothers, David Millinder and Danny Millinder; sisters, Margaret Rushing, Mary Hopper, Myrtle Millinder, Wanda Millinder; eight grandchildren, Amanda Campbell (Carlos), Matthew Shumate (Michelle), Jamie Allen, Marwilla Beal (Jonathon), Andrew Millinder (Rena), Alisha Wilkins (Jason), Ryan Shumate (Christy), Amber Faulkner (Justin); fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the Millinder family will be held Tuesday, October 6 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
