Mr. David Glen Smith age 62 of Jackson, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, in Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born, February 20, 1962, in Jackson, to the late Hobert Luther Smith, Sr. and Vada G. Smith. Mr. Smith was a life long carpenter. He was a happy go lucky type of fellow and enjoyed being around others. His nickname, "Smiley" definitely suited him as he was always smiling. Mr. Smith loved to fish and appreciated the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Alma Louise Smith, Norma Jean Smith, Barbara Smith, Melba Smith and Khristy Smith.
Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Ann Watson of Jackson; two brothers, Hobert Luther Smith, Jr. and wife Debra and Mark Lane Smith and wife Debbie, all of Jackson. Other survivors include a niece and six nephews, Christa Powell, Rustin Smith, Brian Hammond, Richard Watson, Harry Ward, Brock Smith and Dustin Smith as well as great nieces, great nephews and other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Brock Smith, Rustin Smith, Dustin Smith, Richard Watson, Brian Hammond, Harry Ward and Aden Hammond.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Smith will be conducted Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Union Grove Baptist Church with the pastor, Bro. Micha Renfroe officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Cemetery. The Smith family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour.
