Dean "Mawmaw" Russell

Dean Russell, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at St. Thomas in Nashville, Tennessee.

She was born on September 6, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to the late Tommie Smith and Lavern “Sis” Smith.

Dean was a pillar of her community. She loved to play cards, sew and go out to eat with friends. She was very active with the senior citizens, public library and an active member at First Baptist Church in Gleason.

In addition to her paretns, Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Russell.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy B. Arrington and wife Stephannie of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee; two daughters, Betsy Dismuke of Bruceton, Tennessee and Jenny Barton of Milan, Tennessee; and two sisters, Julie Ann Graves and husband Charles of Bradford, Tennessee and Faye Mitchell of Medina, Tennessee.

Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Bethany Graves, Robert Graves and wife Blair, Jack Arrington, Brooklyn Barton, Dylan Barton, Megan Barton, and Ashlyn Barton and two great grandchildren, Addy Perry and Presley Graves.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Gleason on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Mawmaw's memory, to the Gleason Public Library, Gleason Senior Center (Rotary Club) or a charity of your choice.
