Dorothy Louise Smith Lunsford passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at her home in Humboldt. She was born on December 10, 1930, in East Saint Louis, IL.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Dr. Dennis Lunsford, daughters, Teri (L.G.) Clark of Belleville, IL, Jill (James) Vantrease of Humboldt, grandchildren, Adam Campbell of Humboldt, Amy (Richard) Austin of Humboldt, Christopher Hoffarth of Kansas City, KA, Jimmy Hoffarth of Belleville, Kayana Clark of Belleville, Jennifer (Chris) Horner of Medina, Heather McLemore of Houston, TX, 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Homer Lunsford, parents, Hershel Smith and Mary Gregurich, brother, Hershel Smith Jr.

Miss Dot served as a Preschool teacher at Child Town in Humboldt, First Baptist Church of Humboldt Day Care Center as well as Director of Candy Cane Day Care Center in Humboldt. To all the children entrusted to her care, she was known as “Miss Dot.” She was a faithful member of North Jackson Baptist Church until her health began to fail.

Funeral services will be 3 pm Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Medina Funeral Home, with Dr. Dennis Lunsford officiating. Visitation will be 2 -3 pm Thursday prior to services.

The book of Proverbs states: ”..Her children shall rise up and call her blessed.” We were certainly blessed to have her as our Mother.

As per her wishes, she will be cremated following the services, with burial to follow in Antioch Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
