Mrs. Dorothy Aldridge Waldrop, age 93, passed from this world on Saturday, March 21, 2020 surrounded by family.

She was born on September 14, 1926 in Gibson County to the late Jennie Pickard Harris and Josh Aldridge.

Mrs. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmy) Waldrop; her brother, Billy Aldridge; and her sister, Jean Reagon.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Harris, Mike Waldrop (Leeanne), Jeanette Waldrop (Dr. Chip Jones), Tommy Waldrop, Elizabeth Wilson (Dr. Don) and John Waldrop (Gina); grandchildren, Billy Harris, Matt Waldrop (Katija), Katie Seabrook (Dr. Todd), Jay Waldrop, Dr.Ben Wilson (Juliana), Nick Waldrop (Koehler), Andrew Wilson (Morgan), and Mary Beth Hayes (James); six great grandchildren, Sam Waldrop, Sawyer Seabrook, Brodie Seabrook, Max Waldrop, Olivia Seabrook and Lucy Waldrop; special sister-in-law, Jo Ann Aldridge; brothers, George Charles and Ronnie Harris; sisters, Martha Miller, Linda Ables, Donna Harris, and Cindy Parlos. Mrs. Dorothy is also survived by her extended family and caregivers, Christina Chapino, Carmen Hernandez, Beverly Mason and Willie Richardson.

The family wants to specially thank West Tennessee Hospice.

Mrs. Dorothy loved all the children at Alexander School where she served as a crossing guard for thirty years. She also enjoyed keeping the children at West Jackson Baptist Church. She was a member of the JCM band booster and traveled with the band. She served as passed president of the American Legion Auxillary. She also enjoyed planning local veteran events and  volunteering at the VA hospital Memphis. Her greatest love was spending vacations on the beach and in the mountains with her family. Mrs. Dorothy loved celebrating holidays at her home. She had a love for playing cards and fishing, as well. She was a member of Lavinia Baptist Church and dearly loved her paster, Brother Steve Osborne, who faithfully visited her.

Due to the present circumstances, a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials be made to Lavinia Baptist Church or RIFA.
