Duane G. Syverson

Duane G. Syverson, age 70 of Oakfield, Tennessee, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, November 12, 2023 in the Jackson – Madison County General Hospital.

Duane G. Syverson, the son of W. Garfield and Varadeen (Asp) Syverson, was born on August 12, 1953 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.  He was a long haul truck driver since 1969.  He and his wife lived in Fargo, North Dakota before moving to Oakfield, Tennessee in 1997.  Duane enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races.  He treasured his Harley and taking rides with his Southern Cruisers Riding Club friends.  

Duane is survived by his wife, Jacque Hoveskeland of New Rockford, North Dakota; son, Eugene (Deborah) Tarasenko of Underwood, North Dakota; daughters, Monica Olson of Minot, North Dakota and Shawna (Dan) Balsdon of Grand Forks, North Dakota; five grandsons, Samuel, Andrew, Nicolas (Samantha) and Jamey of Underwood and Minot, North Dakota and Jacob O’Toole of Fargo, North Dakota; two great-grandchildren, Colter and Hattie Jo; and two brothers, Karmith (Ashley) Christensen of West Fargo, North Dakota and Delane Christensen of Dilworth, Minnesota.

Other survivors include three brother-in-laws, Ardell (Linda) Hoveskeland of Annadale, Virginia, Barry Hoveskeland of Arlington Washington and Mike Eklund of Twin Valley, Minnesota ; and many extended family members including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Garfield Syverson; mother and step father, Varadeen and Arnold Christensen; and his sister, Valorie (Mike) Eklund.
