Frank Murtaugh Boyd
Jackson, Tennessee
On September 25, 2019 Frank Murtaugh Boyd went to Heaven following a battle with Leukemia. Born October 15, 1927, he lived his 91 years in Madison County. The youngest of nine children, Frank spent his early years delivering groceries and newspapers on his bicycle. Later, fishing drew him to the Tennessee River in pursuit of the big one, and hunting provided untold adventures. After serving in the Air Force, he returned to Jackson in search of a car. Since none were available, he bought one of the first Indian motorcycles made. Motorcycle racing occupied him until he added a sidecar to one so that he could date his future wife, Margaret.
Frank worked for 27 years as a clerk at the GM&O railroad. Later, after paying his first plumbing bill, he decided to open his own plumbing company.
Civic minded always, Frank volunteered at the Carl Perkins Center and served locally and on the state level as an officer in the Exchange Club and Crime Stoppers. He was an active member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Jackson, where he also greeted members upon their arrival, well beyond when he could stand unassisted.
Only 71 years ago, Frank married Margaret, the love of his life. They shared an endless bond. His family and friends completed his life. Nobody enjoyed teasing more than Frank and his breakfast group served it up enthusiastically.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, William David and Ludie Speight Boyd, and eight siblings, including a brother, WQ Boyd, of Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Marsh Boyd and three children; a son, David (Kathy) Boyd; and daughters, Anita (Terry) Medley and Penny Boyd. He leaves four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held, prior to the service, at The Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parker’s Crossroads.
