He was born on January 19, 1948 in Zion, Illinois to the late Gerald Chapin and Anna Frederick Chapin.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Chapin of Medina; two daughters, Niki Bryant of Tullahoma and Kimberly Fout of Colorado; two sons, Bryan Chapin of Tullahoma and Dustin Chapin of Colorado; eight grandchildren; and four great granchildren.
