Glynda Jane Thompson, age 77, departed this life on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in Jackson, Tennessee.

She was born on November 29,1941 in Jackson, Tennessee to late D.R. Littrell and Mildred Robinson Littrell. Glynda was a graduate of Union University, and while studying there, she traveled to Spain and Mexico. She taught Spanish and also received her solo pilot license. Glynda was an active member at Poplar Heights Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. Throughout her life, she was also a church training director, Bible drill team director, sang in the choir and taught piano. She taught Spanish at Alamo City Schools, Bradford City Schools and Old Hickory Academy. Glynda enjoyed cooking and cake decorating, and she was an accomplished seamstress. She loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. To those who knew her, she was a very loyal person and loved life and her friends.

In addition to her parents, Glynda was also preceded in death by her brother, Garey "Buddy" Littrell.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry R. Thompson, Sr.; son, Jerry R. Thompson, Jr. (Anita); daughter, Jeany Byth Maxwell (Darrell); brother, Mark Littrell (Patty); grandchildren, Brad Pauley (Kaylee), Alissa Butler, Milly Balthrop (Brian), McCarty Maxwell and Maggy Maxwell; and great grandchildren, Oakley, Hunter, Remington and one Glynda was looking forward to meet, Evie Jane.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, September 20, 2019  at Poplar Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Koonce officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until the service hour on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Poplar Heights Baptist Church.
