Helena Maria Lamberta Vandyk Vanderheyden was born in Mill, North Brabant, Holland on May 14, 1933 to Leonard and Johanna Vandyk. She had 13 brothers and sisters. The family immigrated to Canada together in 1952.
Lena married Peter Vanderheyden of Aylmer, Canada on May 14, 1955 and they celebrated their 64th anniversary this year. They moved to West Tennessee in 1982 and settled near Chickasaw State Park in 1994.Pete and Lena had six children. She is survived by her son Herman, his daughter Serena, her husband Jeff, their children Madison, Halee, Caden; former daughter-in-law Deb and her husband Mark; son Dave, his wife Cheri, their children Carly and Seth; son Tim, his wife Ginger, their daughters Kaely and her husband Nick, Nikki and her husband Clayton and their son Reed, Lindsey and her husband Nick; son Ron’s daughter Charlotte and her children.
Lena was predeceased by three children, Joseph, Ron and Angela, one grandson, Josh, and three great grandchildren, Ayla, Harper, and Graham.
Lena was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 28, 1967. Her life was centered around her faith. She loved the ministry, especially cart witnessing at the local grocery store. Her hope for the resurrection was strong and she looked forward to reuniting with her lost loved ones on a paradise earth (John 5:28, 29)
Lena always put others before herself and was a loving and kind person who was a joy to be around. She was unfailingly positive.
She passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at JMCGH. A Memorial service was held for her on Tuesday, October 29th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
