Memorial services for Mr. James Earl Thurmond, age 71, will be held 11 am Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Dyersburg Seventh Day Adventist Church with Elder James W. Gilley officiating.
Mr. Thurmond died Monday, September 1, 2014 at his home in Dyersburg.
He was born to Roy B. Thurmond and Venice Sweet Thurmond in Tampa, FL. Mr. Thurmond was a minister for 36 years with the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was very involved in mission work and youth ministries.
Mr. Thurmond is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Thurmond of Dyersburg; parents, Roy B. and Venice Thurmond; children, Lara Thurmond of Corpus Christie, TX, Stephen Conner Thurmond and wife Jen of Nashville, TN, Amber Beth Carlson and husband Chris of Nashville, TN, Jonathan Glenn Thurmond and wife Angela of Burleson, TX; grandchildren, Trista and Sadie Carlson, Parks Tucker Thurmond; sister, Camille Gilley and husband Jim of Thompsonville, IL; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
