Joan Doyle Harmon age 82 of Medina, TN is in the care of Medina Funeral Home where funeral services will be 2:00 Monday, May 23, 2016, with Dr. Michael Jones officiating, burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 Sunday and 11:00 until service time on Monday.

Mrs. Harmon went to be with the Lord, Friday May 20, 2016 at her home with Family by her side. She was born April 19, 1934 in Jackson to the late Elmer Doyle and Audrey Smith Doyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Danny Jose Doyle, brother Horace Doyle.

Mrs. Harmon is survived by her husband of 37 years James F. Harmon, children; Deborah Kaye (Sam) Evans, Phillip Michael Jose, Audrey Elizabeth Buckman, Mary Joan (Rudy) Utley, siblings; Hattie Schaffer, Beverly (Bob) Tillman, Tommy Doyle, Jackie Rushing, David Doyle, 15 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Harmon was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, graduated Jackson High School class of 1952 and Jackson State Community College with a Bachelor degree in 1984. She worked as a business manager with the Center for Enrichment and Development.

Joan loved spending time with her family, traveling, antiques, reading and history, Her love for reading and history developed into a passion for genealogy. Joan was a descendant of early Virginia Colonists.

Mrs. Harmon became a member First Families of Tennessee in 1996, Daughters of the American Revolution 1999, Colonial Dames XVII Century in 2001, Daughters of 1812 in 2001, Daughters of the American Colonists in 2002. Joan served in various positions thru-out the organizations with the most recent serving as the State Regent of the Daughters of the American Colonists from 2012-2015. Mrs. Harmon was currently working on membership to Jamestown Society.
