Mr. John Campbell age 90 of Bells, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his residence.
He was born October 5, 1933, in Haywood County to the late Tollie Campbell and Annie Mae Climer Campbell. As a young man, he worked in the sawmill business. He later worked many years and retired as a truck driver from the Haywood County Highway Department. Mr. Campbell was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy White Campbell; son, Keith "Red" Campbell as well as five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Rita Benson of Brownsville, Theresa Weaver of Friendship and Angela Campbell of Bells; three sons, James Campbell and wife Teresa of Gibson Wells, Billy Campbell and wife Nancy and Andy Campbell and wife Janice all of Brownsville; three sisters, Mildred West of Brownsville, Annie Glenn of Brownsville and Verble Clark of Memphis; two brothers, Roy Campbell and Truman Campbell both of Brownsville. Other survivors include eighteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Brent Davis, Billy Campbell, Jr., Joseph Martin, Jonathan Martin, John Anthony Weaver and Scotty Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are Nicholas Davis and Justin Hill.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Campbell will be conducted Friday, February 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Holly Grove Baptist Church with the pastor, Bro. Chris Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. The Campbell family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
