Kerry Elaine Robinson Pledge, beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed from this life on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The third daughter of Carl E. Robinson and Nancy McCoy Robinson, she was born on September 18, 1969, at St. Mary's Hospital in Humboldt, Tennessee. She attended Humboldt City Schools and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1987, as well as from Arnold's Beauty College, Milan, Tennessee, as a licensed cosmetologist. She was a former childcare worker at Northside Daycare and West Jackson Baptist Church, and most recently, paraprofessional for Jackson Madison County Schools.
She was first and foremost a Christian from a young age after learning about Jesus and accepting him as her Lord and Savior at her home church, Gregory's Chapel Assembly of God. She met her future husband, Timothy K. Pledge, at church camp as a teenager and wowed him with her bright eyes, blinding smile, and ready laugh. They married on March 29, 1991, and became members of her husband’s church, CrossRoads Assembly of God, where she served in the nursery and blessed the congregation by her beautiful singing. She sang songs of faith and hope and courage, all of which she possessed in great measure.
Kerry and Tim have one son, Carson Lane Pledge, and she considered raising him her utmost honor and privilege from God. The fact that she loved all children was well known, but her love for her son knew no bounds. From the time he came into this world, he was Kerry's pride and joy and absolute mission in life, and she was his greatest advocate in all things.
To many, she was known as "KayKay," especially by the many children whom she had the privilege of caring for in the early years of her career. She loved all her babies and continued to follow their lives as they grew older. She was known and loved by the children and coworkers of Pope Elementary as "Mrs. Pledge.” She is fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews as "Aunt Kerry” or “Aunt KayKay,” all of whom have their own special memories of her. She was known by her sisters as "Sis, the keeper of Mama’s recipes and the best coconut pie maker ever,” and as “Shorty” as her daddy called her. Her cousins and friends knew her as funny, feisty, headstrong, courageous, loving, kind, and creative, and she created memories with them that they will forever hold dear.
She was known by her husband as "my wife of 30 years, Kerry," the one who shared life’s joys, struggles, and sorrows with him faithfully and loved him with everything she had within her.
Yet her most beloved title was "Momma.” She loved, nurtured, and taught Carson hours upon hours many things, but above all, she taught him about the love of God and how to pray. He will always be her beloved “Carson Bear.”
Kerry was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nancy Robinson of Humboldt, as well as her grandparents, Lois and Harold Robinson and Owen and Marie McCoy. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Timothy K. Pledge, one son, Carson Lane Pledge, both of Jackson; two sisters, Carla Reynolds (husband Dale) of Humboldt, and Cynthia Green of Gadsden; seven nieces and nephews, Chase Green, Bradley Kelly, Bethany (Pledge) Erickson, Jean Marie (Pledge) Odom, Lindsay (Pledge) Freyer, Thomas Pledge, and Katie (Kelly) Black; sixteen grand nieces and nephews; one aunt, Ramona McCoy, of Jackson; and many other dear cousins and friends, including her "twin, born three months apart," Tim McCoy," as the two were called "two peas in a pod all their lives."
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M, Friday, October 22, 2021 at Crossroads Assembly of God with burial to follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Crossroads Assembly of God.
