Gene Johnson, age 91, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt.

He was born on April 26, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Coadie Johnson and Mary Johnson.
Gene proudly served in the United States Army. He was devoted to his family, loved the Lord and served his church for all of his adult life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Johnson and brother, Rev. Don Johnson.

Gene is survived by his two daughters, Jeanne Newsom and her husband Charles of Germantown and Cindy Knox and her husband David of Germantown, brother, Ron Johnson and his wife Bonnie of Bartlett; sister-in-law, Cheryl Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee.
Other survivors include five grandchildren, Chad Newsom and his wife Natalie, David Newsom and his wife Morgan, Jonathan Knox and his wife Abby, Mary Kathryn Anderton and her husband Luke and Andrew Knox and three great grandchildren, Cooper Newsom, Sawyer Newsom and Emilia Anderton.

A private graveside service will be held at West Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery in Memphis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Gideons International or Life Choices of Memphis.
