Lyle Nelson was born September 10, 1936 in Hayden, Missouri to Elmer and Nola Nelson. He departed this life on January 6, 2015.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 in the chapel of Medina Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Dillard officiating.
Mr. Nelson was educated in Maries and Pulaski County, MO schools, and graduated from Dixon High School in Dixon, MO. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in France, Germany and the Philippines. Mr. Nelson retired from the Department of Defense/United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was also retired from WalMart and was a long time employee of Steve Marsh Ford in Milan, TN.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Wilma; his parents and a brother, Arthur.
He is survived by his son, John Nelson and wife Bonnie of Milan; brother, Paul Nelson and wife Deanna of Webster Groves, Missouri; sister, Norma Fannon of Florissant, Missouri; grandson, Chris and wife Jessica of Milan; granddaughter, Alicia Collins and husband Jameson of Jackson, TN; two great-grandchildren, Madi Collins and Alex Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to the Milan Fire Department annual toy drive fund or the Medina Elementary School Backpack Food Program.
