Mrs. Mattie Taylor, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at her home in Bells, Tennessee.
She was born on April 22, 1922 in Haywood County to the late James Monroe Tilden Johnson and Cora Wilkerson Johnson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Taylor; one son; daughter, Nelda Jernigan; four brothers, Leroy Johnson, Clifton Johnson, Emmett Johnson and Andrew Johnson; and sister, Mary Randle.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Woosley of Nashville, Tennessee, Connie Hasson of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Sue Ellen Emison of Bells, Tennessee; son-in-law, Bobby Jernigan of Bells, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Catherine Carter, Robert Jernigan, Amy Johnson, Taylor Hasson, Carrrie Hasson, Brandon Emison (Crystal), and Robin Emison and six great grandchildren, Andrew Hasson, Madison Hasson, Ella Emison, Eva Emison, Cal Finney and Jamison Finney.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Bells First United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 16, 2021 at Bells First United Methodist Church with Rev. Susie Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Belleview Cemetery.
The family recommends that those who are not vaccinated to please wear a mask.
