Myron William Bentley

Gibson, Tennessee

Myron “Ben” William Bentley, 83, of Gibson, TN, passed away at his home on June 8, 2019 at 7:20 a.m.  Myron was born in Vilas Township (Antigo) WI, to the late Myron Aaron Bentley and Arleen Mosier Bentley.  Myron was the oldest of 13 children.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sylvania Kimbrough Bentley; 4 sons, Daniel John Bentley (Sandra) of Jackson, TN, Douglas James Bentley (Marqueta) of Blanchard, OK, Dennis Jay Bentley of Dyersburg, TN, David Jerome Bentley of Knoxville, TN, a daughter, Diana Jean Bentley Overton (John) of Meza, AZ.  He has 7 grandchildren Andrew of Blanchard, OK, Alycia of Jackson, TN, Derek (Angelia) of Union City, TN, Jennifer of Jackson, TN, Lindsey Overton of Mesa, AZ, Heather of Edmond, OK, Nathan of Jackson, TN, Chase Overton (Jessica) of Ennis, TX and 4 great grandsons Dalton, Dustin, Deacon and Davin of Union City, TN and 1 great granddaughter Olivia of Springhill, TN.

He retired with over 21 years of honorable service from the United States Air Force, serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War in country.  Though Ben retired from the military, his service to others did not end there, he volunteered for many years at both the Humboldt General Hospital and Humboldt Veterans Home.

He will be remembered by the family for his ever present humor, love of music and the good times they shared.  He was the embodiment of a trickster/teaser, fun loving, mischievous, good natured and always ready with a joke that more often than not contained a lesson.  Like every trickster, he caused his family to groan while he was here and will be sorely missed now that he is gone.  But his tricks and their lessons will live on in this family; a family who are forever grateful for his life and love.

Myron was a member of New Shiloh United Methodist Church of Humboldt and the family wishes to thank them all for the prayers and help they provided to the family during these times.
