Ray Coffman, of Jackson, TN is in the care of Medina Funeral Home. To allow travel time for family, military graveside services will be conducted at Highland Memorial Gardens on Friday, October 14th, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Sills officiating.

Ray was born June 12, 1954 in Jackson, TN and departed this life at his residence on September 28, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Marshall Coffman; sister, Janet Fay Coffman and brother, Robert Joe “Rob” Coffman.

Ray was most recently a truck driver with Reed Trucking Company.  He was a Past Master with Masonic Lodge #45, a Shriner, member of Elks Lodge #192, and member of Northside United Methodist Church.  Ray graduated from Northside High School (Jackson, TN) where he played the saxophone in the band.  He also toured with the High School National Band and attended the University of Southern Mississippi on a music scholarship.  Ray could play any instrument he picked up and was a mentor to many in the music industry.  He was the leader and founder of numerous Rock & Roll bands in the Jackson area.

Ray is survived by his wife, Martha and mother, Mary Jo, both of Jackson, TN; daughters, Sarah of Savannah, TN and Anna of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Landan and Lyla Belle of Savannah, TN; uncle and aunt, Tom & Carol of Naples, FL; sister in law, Rita of Jackson, TN; numerous cousins and extended family in Memphis, TN; and special pastor, Dr. Don Thrasher, Jackson, TN.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to either the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.  The family would also like to extend a special thanks to David & Kaye McLeod for their support during Ray’s final days.
