Roy Wilhite

Roy passed away at home, peacefully,  and gained his wings on August 16, 2022.

He was born September 11, 1946 in Germantown-Rt 2 at 2:15 am to Zacharia Wilhite ( passed October 31, 1971) and Annie Tharpe (passed June 13, 1994).


He was preceded in death by his wife,  Cathy Wilhite (Phifer) on December 4, 2015 . Roy (aka: Rawhide ) & Cathy (aka: Rosey Cheeks ) were united in holy matrimony on July 1, 1978.

He was also preceded in death by his half-brother, Ernest Wilhite; brothers, Jimmy Wilhite and Jack Wilhite; sister,  Jeannie Wilhite/Parsons; Mariah Childress ( Cathy’s granddaughter) passed on December 28, 2019

Roy is survived by five children, Roy Wilhite Jr. of Oakfield, Jason Wilhite of Milan, Brad Wilhite of Milan, Chad Wilhite       (Kyle Wheeler – Fiancé) of Jackson and step-daughter, Cathy Childress of Milan.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, (Jason’s Children ) Jakob, Layla & Landon, (Chad’s Children ) Skyler &  Mason Wilhite, (Cathy’s Children and grandchildren ) Terry Lee Childress, Sonya & her children, Adilynn Childress & Brandon Childress , Justin Childrenss and ( Crystal- fiancé) and their children, Ally and Karah Childress; and brother Donnie Wilhite

Roy graduated from Wardell High School as class of 1965. He worked and retired from the Milan Arsenal in Milan, Tennessee.  He served in the Army starting January 20, 1966 and received the National Defense Service Medal ( Expert (Rifle).

Per his wishes, Roy was cremated.  There will be a celebration of life held at a later date and will be shared by the immediate family in days to come.
