Mrs. Shirley Ann Ison, age 83, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born on December 5, 1937 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to the late Martin Maggard and Audrey Day Docos. Mrs.Ison was a graduate of Spencerian Business College. She previously owned Town House Pizza in Whitesburg, Kentucky. She was co-owner and business manager of United Cable, #8 Limited and Cave Branch mining companies. Mrs. Ison was a loving wife, mother of five, grandmother of thirteen and great grandmother of four. She was a kind hearted friend and relative to a host of others.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ison was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Ison and grandson, Geoffrey J.R. Aaron Ison.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Lee Ison, Kevin Duane Ison, and Paul Christopher Auxier; two daughters, Aleesa Ann Guadin and Delana Kaye Simpson; brother, David Maggard; and two sisters, Pamela Brewer and Sandy Brown.
Mrs. Ison is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Jennifer Ison Reese, Peter Ryan Drumgoole, Tayler James Drumgoole, Richard Ison Powers, Kelly Stephens Guerrero, Katie Stephens Crum, Kristin Ashley Ison, Katelyn Danielle Ison, Kylee Dennis, Kristian Auxier, Calieb Auxier, and Navaeh Grave Auxier; four great grandchildren, Mason Franklin Reese, Colin Russell Crum, Ethan Michael Guerrero, and Hudson Lee Guerrero; and in-laws, Denise Ison Hensley, Philip Michael Gaudin; Dr. James S. Simpson, Kenvie Dewayne Reese, Kevin Russell Crum, and Shannon Auxier.
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand, His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus."

A memorial service will be held from 1:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. on Friday, October 8, 2021at Kingscreek Community Church in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour. Burial of ashes will follow at Edward P. Day Cemetery.
