Telitha Hanks, age 68, departed this life  peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born on November 18, 1950 in Newbern, Tennessee to Monroe Ballard and Ruth Freeman Ballard. She graduated from Dyer County High School in 1969.

She is survived by her loving best friend and spouse of 50 years, Robert Hanks; two daughters, Sheila (Chuck) Carnell of Medina, Tennessee and Amanda (Rick) Galloway of Lavinia, Tennessee; three sisters, Janice Ashley of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, Linda Pollack of Trenton, Tennessee, Brenda Simrell of Hornbeak, Tennessee and two brothers Billy and Raymond Ballard of Owensboro, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Allen (Miriam) Carnell of Jackson, Tennessee, Jamie (Howard) Welch of Medina, Tennessee, Scott Carnell of Daytona Beach, Florida, Victoria Galloway, and Jacob Galloway of Lavinia, Tennessee; five great grandkids Makayla Carnell, Mason Welch, Savannah Carnell, McKenzie Welch, and Sabastian Carnell; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Monroe and Ruth Ballard, and her sister Dorothy Hatfield. Also her dog and longtime companion “Lady”.

She will be missed dearly.  She was an amazing person inside and out.  Heaven gained another beautiful angel.  Until we all meet again.  We love you Granny.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 18, 2019 in the chapel of Medina Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
