Valeria Wood
Oakfield, Tennessee
Mrs. Valeria Wood, age 90, departed this life on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at her home in Oakfield, Tennessee.
She was born on March 19, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Geza Noga and Elizabeth Mezei. Upon her mother’s re-marriage, she was adopted by her late step-father, Louis Sampar. From an early age, she developed a love for dance, especially tap and ballet. During World War II she performed for military personnel at USO functions. Following her graduation from high school she eventually became an owner/partner in the Sampar-Wray Dance Studio in Cleveland, teaching many young girls the art.
With her marriage in 1951, she became a devoted housewife and mother. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jack Wood of Jackson, Tennessee; her son, Jack D. Wood (Jackie) of Jackson, Tennessee; her daughter, Lora Faraci (Vince) of Waterford Township, Michigan; and her brother, William Sampar (Mercy) of Grand Junction, Colorado.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of West Tennessee for their wonderful care and support. The family will have a private memorial at a later date and asks that expressions of remembrance be given to a charity of choice.
